project life | a road trip

This layout is the second to last one from Ben's baby album. At the end of last summer, we took a road trip to the high sierra: Mammoth + Yosemite. We planned it in a hurry, because we got word that Nick had time off at the last minute. But a spontaneous road trip proved to be tons of fun.

Doing the Yosemite thing with Ben made me super nostalgic for road trips growing up with my family. In fact, the last time I was in Yosemite, I was there with my Mom, Dad and younger sister.

The left side documents our time in Mammoth, hiking Devil's Postpile and Convict Lake. I've been using a lot of frames around my photos to add white space, like the black and white in the upper right corner.

Once again, the Paislee Press wood grain journal cards make an appearance in my Project Life album.

I created this "road trip" text on my iPad and then transferred it into Photoshop, but you could easily recreate it by typing on a journal card and adding your own handwriting. I love these plain white journal cards from Becky Higgins.

I've been liking the look of adding captions to my photos.

Somehow I hung on to our tickets to the shuttle you have to take to get to the Devil's Postpile trailhead. I taped them to a 4x6 piece of pre-cut card stock and typed a little caption in the corner.

The right side documents our trip through Yosemite.

The icon on the white card is from the Paislee Press road trip set of journal cards.

Flipping through our Project Life albums reminds me how much I enjoy having these memories documented. I didn't do much of anything to document our lives before our son was born, but now I'm hooked. You can learn more about Project Life HERE.
